Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went to the tomb expecting to find a dead Jesus. They went prepared, devoted, and brave, but their expectations were wrong. They were already wondering who would move the stone. When they arrived, they discovered God had already handled it. (Mark 16: 1-8)
How often do I do the same?
I weigh the odds.
I brace for the worst.
I live with a “practical lens,” constantly focused on the obstacles in front of me, forgetting that God is already working ahead of where I’m at.
The angel’s words:
“He is not here. He is going ahead of you.”
Read that again.
God is always leading. He’s not stuck in your old fears, failures, or expectations. He’s not trapped in the patterns and mindsets you’ve clung to. He’s already ahead of you, calling you forward into something new. God’s grace is not found in the past. It’s here presently and ahead of us.
The tough part? Moving forward usually requires discomfort.
If you want to see the miraculous, you can’t cling to old ways that no longer serve God’s purpose for your life. He is a Creator. He is always doing a new thing. That means some things in you and around you have to die so something greater can live.
The women left the tomb shaken and silent. Fear. Trembling. They didn’t run straight to Instagram with the headline. They didn’t try to convince anyone else what they’d seen. They simply carried the truth and let God move the pieces forward.
In a world obsessed with broadcasting every step, maybe that’s the lesson.
Sometimes obedience looks like going dark.
Sometimes alignment looks like silence until God opens the next door.
Sometimes trust means letting Him do what only He can do — without us trying to manage the optics.
So stop staring at the stone.
Stop obsessing over how you’ll move it.
Stop waiting for all the details to line up.
God has already rolled it away.
Follow Him forward.
