When They Can’t Accept Who You Have Become

Not everyone is meant to accompany us on our journey. As I get olderJesus returned home (Mark 6)—not as the carpenter they once knew, but as the man walking in power, wisdom, and miracles. And instead of celebrating His transformation, they questioned it.

  • Where did He learn this?
  • How is He doing this?
  • What happened to Him?

They couldn’t comprehend His growth because it shattered their familiar frame of who He was. Even with clear evidence, they doubted.

This is true in our own lives. When we grow, when we step into our calling, when we walk in power, there will always be those who struggle to accept it.

And then comes the offense.

The people in Jesus’ hometown took offense at Him. He was doing miracles, teaching with wisdom, and changing lives—yet instead of embracing the power in front of them, they rejected it.

Why? Because His transformation convicted them.

People often resist change in others because it forces them to confront their own stagnation. If we are rising, if we are stepping into who God has called me to be, then those around us must choose:

Will they be inspired? OR

Will they be offended?

Our responsibility?

To keep moving forward. If the evidence of our lives — our “fruit” — isn’t enough to speak for us, then nothing we say will convince them.

The journey is ours, not theirs.
