You Already Have What You Need

In Mark 6:35-44 we read that the disciples were ready to shut the Jesus teaching party down. The day had been long, the people were still gathered, and instead of leaning into what Jesus was doing, they looked for a way out. “Send them away so they can find food.” Translated, “We’re tried Jesus and we want to go home.” But Jesus had a different plan:

“You give them something to eat.”

Jesus pushed the responsibility back onto them. He had already given them authority to perform miracles, yet in this moment, they defaulted to scarcity thinking—looking at their lack instead of their power.

How often do I do the same? How many times have I felt the nudge of God to step up, lead, serve, or create, and instead thought, “I don’t have enough. I’m not ready. Someone else should do it.”? But Jesus never asks me to give what I don’t already have.

“How many loaves do you have? Go look.”

God doesn’t call us to produce something out of thin air—He calls us to bring what we already have. Our skills, our time, our talents, our experiences, our leadership—He’s already equipped us. We just need to step forward in faith and trust that what we have is enough in His hands.

But wait…there’s more!

And here’s the bigger miracle—not just that thousands were fed, but that the apostles saw firsthand that their faith and obedience unlocked abundance. The food wasn’t just enough—it was more than enough.

Twelve baskets left over. Pure abundance. Message received loud and clear.

God is a God of overflow, but we won’t see it until we step into it.

We don’t need to wait until we feel ready. We already have what we need. We just have to bring it, believe, and move forward.
