Genesis 12: 1-4
I was struck today in a new way as I read these passages during my study.
1Now the Lord said to Abram,
“Go from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
2And I will make you into a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing;
3And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
4So Abram went away as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
I have always said that I HAD to leave home at 19. What if actually, it was simply me being obedient to follow the call of God to a new land (Missouri), leaving my father’s house and my relatives? That narrative is different.
How many times have I been called to something and I don’t go? What did I give up in that process?
I missed God showing me where he wanted me.
I missed becoming a “great nation” in that moment.
I missed His blessing.
I missed being a blessing to others.
I missed God being my great defender.
On the other hand, there were many times I have gone where God called me and the results, the fruit of that obedience is evident in my life.
Thank you God for calling us to be a part of your EPIC adventure!

This passage provides us a moment to pause and reflect on God’s calls for each of us to trust Him fully, stepping out in faith even when the path is uncertain. Like Abram, we may be asked to leave behind comfort and familiarity, but God’s plans are always greater than our own. His call is not just about personal blessing but about being a blessing to others. Our response, like Abram’s, should be one of obedience and trust, knowing that God’s promises are faithful and true. He is the creator of all motion in time. In patience and reverence, we trust in His providential care while working hard to serve everyone we encounter on the journey. God is Love. God is Good. God is King
