As Jesus walked ahead of His disciples on the road to Jerusalem, He gave us the clearest picture of leadership we will ever see (Mark 10:32).
He led from the front.
Not from comfort.
But out where the weight was heavy, the cost was real, and the risk was personal.
This is the leadership Jesus modeled. Not for applause—but for the sake of those who would come after Him.
And for me, it draws a line in the sand.
If I’m called to lead—in my home, my business, my relationships—this is the standard. There’s no room for distant leadership. No space for calling shots from the safety of the sidelines.
It’s out front or it’s not leadership at all.
The disciples watched Him, and Scripture says they were both amazed and fearful. Amazed at His courage and clarity. Fearful of what following that kind of leadership might require.
I can feel this tension.
In this season, I stand amazed at what God is building—but I’ve also felt the fear of letting go of what He’s asked me to release. The fear of what full surrender might cost.
But here’s the truth we need to keep coming back to: Fear has no place in the life of a man or woman called to lead.
Jesus didn’t lead with fear.
He led with purpose.
With power.
With peace.
And the invitation is the same for us.
Lead from the front.
Stand where the stakes are real.
Move forward with the boldness that comes from knowing exactly who walks ahead of you.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”
(2 Timothy 1:7)
Be amazed.
Stand in awe.
And lead.
