Men, WAKE UP! Wake all the way up!
Luke 9:60 reads:
But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.”
Men, WAKE UP! Wake all the way up!
Want to know how you cripple and overwhelm a man? You overwhelm him with information, options, choices and opinions. Does this sound like anything that is going on in our world today?
Some of you may remember TV with only three news stations and a nightly sign-off.
When programming became 24 hours, it was no longer news — it became entertainment. Is not everything around us programmed to distract us?
Distract us From God.
Distract us From the Holy Spirit.
Distract us From Jesus.
Distract us From our wives.
Distract us From our children and family.
Distract us From our businesses, jobs and ministries.
Distract us From our identities and calling.
There is only ONE VOICE that matters and that is the voice of God himself. Does He speak to you? Do you listen? Are you even in a place to listen?
In this verse, Jesus is telling a man to let the dead bury their own.
It seems harsh…it seems cold. But is it?
If the Bible is filled with parables, could this be another example of Jesus taking this moment and speaking a sort of parable?
We are called multiple times in Scripture to renew our minds…to follow God…to develop the fruits of the Spirit. You know what or who doesn’t do these things? Something dead.
Is your life marked by constant transformation and evolution or are you dead?
“I don’t have enough time.”
“I’m not in shape.”
“I don’t have enough money.”
“I don’t have support.”
How much do you really trust your faith? How much do you really trust our God…our Jesus?
If Adam and Eve screwed it all up in the garden, then we needed a reset.
Jesus was that reset.
Jesus gives us the opportunity to walk with God and walk in the God-given identities WE ALREADY HAVE. Are you getting this?
Adam and Eve were tricked to think there was something they didn’t have. They already had it!
So if Jesus comes to reset it, to give us the ultimate “do-over,” our identities are already established in Christ.
Are you walking in this or wallowing?
Wake Up. Grow Up. Let’s GO!
