Jairus had already made the bold move. He sought out Jesus, asked for help, and believed He could heal his daughter.
But in the waiting, in the delays, in the interruptions—his worst fear came true.
“Your daughter has died; why bother the Teacher further?” (Mark 5:35-36)
I can only imagine the crushing weight of that moment. The doubt. The anger. The racing thoughts—If only we had moved faster. If only we hadn’t been interrupted. If only I had done more.
And then, the most dangerous part: The voices telling him to give up.
This is where I have to be careful in my own life. Who am I listening to?
When things seem impossible, when the door slams shut on what we were believing for, do we listen to the voices that say, It’s over. Stop trying. Walk away.
Or do we listen to Jesus?
Because Jesus always hears—He hears the doubts, the fears, and the lies. And He answers with truth:
✔ Do not be afraid.
✔ Only believe.
That’s it. That’s the test.
Jairus had already taken the first step of faith by coming to Jesus. But in the hardest moment, he had to stand firm, refuse fear, and believe.
That’s the same call on us. If we are stirred to seek out Jesus, we cannot let anything shake us. No matter what others say, no matter how things unfold, we must go with Jesus.
No fear. Only faith.
