In a world that hands us a thousand distractions, a million half-truths, and endless reasons to strive harder and perform more, Jesus speaks one clear truth:
And everything that matters flows from Him.
That’s what the scribe realized in Mark 13: 32-34. In the midst of theological debate and religious noise, he got it. And Jesus noticed.
Love isn’t a box to check.
It’s not a religious act.
It’s the core.
Love God.
Love others.
Love yourself, rightly.
That’s the framework.
We can do all the “right things” — lead, serve, pray — and still feel like we’re not enough.
Still wrestle with doubt.
Still let outcomes define our identities.
Still carry a heaviness when things don’t go the way we planned, even when we poured everything we had into them.
This is where performance tries to creep in. Where action tries to replace intimacy. Where discipline becomes a mask for disconnection.
Jesus doesn’t ask for burnt offerings.
He doesn’t ask for sacrifice disconnected from the heart.
He asks for love. Real, raw, grounded love.
And then He says this:
“You are not far from the Kingdom.”
Not far.
This reminds me that proximity to the Kingdom isn’t about perfect performance or getting every move right. It’s about recognizing truth and responding with my whole life.
When we love God as the one true King…
When we love others as image-bearers…
When we love ourselves as His workmanship,
…we’re stepping into the Kingdom. Fully. Freely.
So here’s the self check-up:
Am I living like I’m close to the Kingdom?
Or am I still standing at a distance, stuck in performance and fear?
Today is a call to cross the line.
To stop trying to earn your place.
To stop hiding behind your grind.
To simply love, because He first loved you.
That’s not weakness.
That’s Kingdom.
