Priest, King, Warrior
This afternoon I was thinking about Melchizedek. He appears to Abram (Abraham) following a victorious battle against four kings. The Bible tells us he was a priest of the Most High God. He BROUGHT bread and wine to Abraham. He BLESSED Abraham. He received 10% of the BOUNTY of battle from Abraham. See Genesis 14 for more context.
Thoughts from this?
He was clearly operating outside the written history of God/the old Covenant yet he was recognized as a king and PRIEST of the Most High God.
There is nothing in here about the structure, establishment or practices of Judaism or any other traditions yet again, without any type of establishment, he was called a priest. Why?
Was he foreshadowing communion? Why choose bread and wine?
Any other thoughts? What should the application be in our own homes? Are we living and operating as priests, kings and warriors?
